This four-bedroom house located near Avenue Road responds to a specific request by a local craftsman. He envisioned a concrete house that would be heated by traditional wood heating methods without sacrificing any of the comforts or economies of contemporary construction. The facade layers the horizontal and vertical glass planes behind a cantilevered ICF structure.
The high, weathered zinc volume features two large openings, one which opens to the street and another to access the generous rear yard. The classic, durable material palette of glass, wood and stone evokes older means of construction, while the forms are clearly modern.
